Library of Encouragement |

This room, which we will call the old teachers library of encouragement, will contain a few of the words of encouragement he has heard over the years. These bits of encouragement have usually come exactly when they were needed. 1. The first series that I would call to your attention are some of those that God used to call me into the preaching and teaching ministry in 1958. They include Ezekiel 3: 16 through 21, Ezekiel 33: 1 through 9, Jeremiah 20: 9, and 1st Corinthians 9: 16. The old teacher was led to these scriptures in the order that they are given here as they spoke plainly to his heart. There are times that it seems to be totally impossible to ignore the Word of God. 2. Early instructions to a new preacher: "Nothing to recommend me, to offer, to tell, but the Word of God.", "Preach what you live", "The congregation must live up to what they expect of their minister." 3. More instructions: "It is not important how many are saved, for that is God's responsibility, but how many have the Word and a chance is mine through Christ in me and I in Him." 4. "Keep it simple so that more may grasp the value of what you have to offer (the Word of God only)" 5. Matthew 4: 19, "I am to be a fisher of men." Matthew 5: 13, "I am to be salt" Matthew 5: 14, "I am to be light." 6. A challenge by Pastor Bob Welch, of the Christian missionary Alliance, in 1985. "Live a life that demands explanation." 7. Thoughtful words presented by Dr. Kraft of the American missionary fellowship at Mt. Gilead CA April 1987. " The Word of God from Genesis 1 to Revelation 22 is the progressive revelation of God and Christ." -- "God will never tolerate sin, but he will forgive it!". 1st Corinthians 4: 1, "We are to be servants of Christ and stewards of God's mysteries." "Quench not, grieve not, and walk with the Holy Spirit." 8. More thoughtful words presented by Dr. Williams at Mt. Gilead in March of 1993."God's mercy gives us that which we do not deserve so that when he must judge us he will not give us that which we do deserve -- Justice". 9. 2nd Chronicles 7: verses 14 and 15. My patriotic duty. 10. Faith is a positive response to the Word of God. 11. "We received him freely, we worship him freely, we must share him freely." From Pastor George Miller, Atwater CA. 12. "No one is chosen against his will, no one is rejected against his will." Think about that. 14. Micah chapter 6: verses 6 through 8. What God expected from us. 15. From Dr. J. Vernon Mcgee we have these words " my life in God is salvation, my life with God is communion and fellowship, my life for God is service." 16. "You preach law to the proud and grace to the humble." Pastor Rob Krise at Stevenson Chapel, CA October 1988. 17. "If you look at yourself you will be discouraged. If you look at others you will be disappointed. If you look at Jesus you will be lifted up."
18. From Pastor Dwight Thompson we have the following quotes. "Death leads to life."
Think about that one. 19. From the Pastor of the Snelling Chapel October 2002. " If you do not accept God's grace you will answer to his law. " 20. Pastor Bill Stevens Atwater CA. " You don't have to like a person, but you must love them." 21. Haggai chapter 1 verses 5 through 7. A simple admonition "to consider your ways" 22. From the internet 11/02." If God brings you to it He will bring you through it.". |
